Mycorrhizae are fungi that obligate and saprophytic in nature requiring a living host for their survival. This fungi penetrates into the plant cells through the roots, producing balloon like structures called vesicles. The interaction between VAM fungi and plants is generally symbiotic based upon nutrient exchange.
